PC restarting during gameplay???

My pc restarts in the middle of playing any game with no errror message
running: AMD athlon 3000+ at 2.17GHz
1.25 GB ram
GF4 ti4600
Only happens during games not web browsing etc.

Perhaps it is overheating. Is it adequately cooled?
Perhaps you do not have an adequate power supply.
Perhaps you do not have enough swap file space? (I think this unlikely
since you have so much memory)
There could be a thousand reasons.

I would try to eliminate any potential hardware probs or driver probs.
 
Think it may be overheating graphics card, seeing as it only crashes during
gameplay?
Brand new 650w triple fan psu eliminates that, plus all hardware drivers up
to date.
Have 1 fan on mobo plus small fan on GC, not enough? What should my ideal
temp be?

I'm not sure for your particular setup, you might try googling it.
I think for me above 65 degrees C on the motherboard temp is too high. For
processor no more than 50 degrees C.

Try downloading a diagnostic type prog and see if anything comes up,
