Hi,

I'm having a problem with my parents computer, running
Windows XP, where it keeps powering itself up in the
middle of the night. It's happened ever since I installed
a network card into their PC and they were connected into
a adsl/router modem. Wake on LAN is turned off in the
BIOS and I even went into the PC and pulled out the wake
on LAN cord just to make sure it wasn't that :)

What else could cause a PC running Windows XP to power
itself up?

Thanks,

David.

Check the BIOS for scheduled power up. Some BIOS allow you to set the
time that a PC powers up. HTH.

by bios also, besides wake on lan or modem issues, has a wake on pme event
which powers the pc on.
maybe that helps.
