Hello Folks,
I really need help on this one. I am trying to
reinstall windos xp in my computer (basically to get rid
of all junk/spyware i have downloaded over last year).
However my PC hangs during boot from the WinXP cdrom.
This is what happens. I get the blue screen -> tries to
detect the hardware -> Message " Enter if you want to
install, R if you want to repair" . At this point the
comp fails to respond to keyboard. However I noticed
this : If I am really fast in pressing <return> then it
does go to the next screen. But eventually it hangs again.
If I boot up to my existing windows again, it works fine.
System's Configuration:
-----------------------------
CPU : P4 2.0 Ghz, RAM: 256 MB, MoBo: ECS P4S5A, Video
Card; Gforce 2, CDROM: LG DVD ROM,
HardDisk : WD400EB (40 GB).

Here is what I have tried (unsuccessfully):
------------------------------
1) Changed the CDROM drive.
2) Played around with BIOS setting.
3) Run diagnosting sw for my hard drive. Hard drive
seems to be fine.
4) removed the additional CDRW drive I had installed
later.
5) Tried Win2K. Same result.

If you are using a USB keyboard it could be an issue with
your BIOS not supporting using the keyboard outside of a
PnP environment. If you can, use a PS/2 keyboard.

Its time to dig out your old keyboard. The fuction keys
on your new keyboard will not work properly without being
in a Windows enviroment with the keyboard software
running.
Dust off your old keyboard and try that.
