Hi,

A friend of mine has asked me to take a look at their PC they got for
christmas, which a relative had built for them. Heres the problem....

When booting up (and the Windows XP dos splash screen appears, with
the little animated progress bar along the bottom) it sits there for
about 30 seconds, then cuts to a black screen and does nothing
further! The guy that built the machine obviously didnt have any
problem, so could this be a piece of hardware (ie. ram) may have come
loose in transit? Or could there be another reason??

Also, I was able to bootup in safe mode if thats any help?

Looking forward to some helpful advice!!!!

Thanks.

Press F8 on restart, to choose the bootlog option. Look in the %windir% for
NTBTLOG.TXT and some hint of what is failing. (Some device file probably.)
