I`ve just installed PC-Cillin 2002. It`s not the newest, but I was thinking, if the anti-virus software is updated whenever the ppl at PC-Cillin write a new bit for it, does it matter which version of PC-Cillin the user has? Whatever version a user has, it is updated reguarly. A up-to-date version of 2002 should be as efficient as an up-to-date of 2003 or 2004, right??

Kenny ... Well i would have thought so..

Kenny just a thought.. after you update your virus checker with a new database.. just check the version in the about box.... if there is one...(Never used PC Cillin here).. see if that updates too

But on the whole i would have thought that if your list of known pests was upto date you would be fairly well protected..

The program files are also updated once in a while and the version number changes, but the Name doesn't. AFAIK there has been no 2003 release and as the 2002 is bundled with almost every Gfx and Mobo I'm sure it should work just as fine, provided you update it regulary...

I installed PC-Cillin a whiles back, 2002 version, came on a motherboard CD.

It worked fine, got the updates regularly, but then after six months, that was it, I couldn't receive any more downloads and they kept asking me to pay them money and upgrade.

Needless to say I'm currently using Grisoft AVG and AntiVir, both freebies.

I hope you have more luck than me Kenny but I thought I best let you know what I experienced.

I'd be interested to hear from anybody who installed a freebie version of PC-Cillin and is still receiving updates after using it for more than six months. Maybe I was just unlucky :(
