Pausing background music on a slide??

I think I know the answer to this already, but I'll ask anyway. I need to
pause the background music on one slide to allow a sound clip to be heard
when an image is clicked on. Is this possible?

Insert your background music as a transition sound set to loop - this only
works with WAV files.

Then in the slide where you don't want the sound, check the option to stop
the sound in the Transitions dialog box or task pane.

When you get to the slide where you want it to play again, set it as your
transition sound.

I thought of that, but my background music is a sampling of several music
clips stitched together. If I completely stop the music for this one slide
(that I don't necessarily want to make a silent slide) then when it starts up
again on the next slide, it's going to start from the very beginning of the
music clip. Right? I need it to continue where it left off. I'm thinking I
am going to have to use two different music clips. What a pain. ;-)
