Good Morning,

Just thought I'd post my question here, see if anyone knew
the answer, & can help me out.

I'm not the brightest apple in the basket with some of
this stuff, as in reading all the technical issues
associated with some of the patches.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition, & need to know IF I
should download the above patch or not. Whether I'm
running 64 Bit Color? I don't know, but it makes mention
through some of the writings about this.

I'm assuming that this has to do with these derndable pop
ups I & everyone else gets while on line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have already checked the system & okay, Virus wise,
Firewall wise, etc..........

Thanks again,
..

What "above" patch?
You can see what color depth is running by opening Control Panel and
clicking the DISPLAY applet. Click the SETTINGS tab.

popup in xp when not browsing can be caused by xp messenger
service.. go into services and choose disable. then go to
mozilla.org and download 'firefox' as it has a built in
popup killer for web popups.
hooray for free source.

You don't say what patch: But I don't know of *anything* that deals in
64 bit *color* so I suspect you are in fact concerned by a patch for a
64 bit *system*. 64 bit versions of XP are for the very expensive new
Intel Itanium 64 bit processors, with one coming soon for equivalent AMD
chips. You would know if you had bought one of these - so the answer is
(probably) that no, you don't want it
