Pasting dates changes values

When I copy and paste from an Excel worksheet orginally created on a Mac but transported over to a PC, when I copy and paste cells with a date format (05/09/53), it pastes as (05/08/49). How can I prevent this or correct it?
 
Put 1462 in an empty cell, copy it, select all dates and do edit>paste
special and add

or change the date system under tools>options>calculations to 1904, I'd
recommend to use the adding.
