Pasting but really adding cells?

I'm a basic beginner in Excel, and there's something I'd like to do, can't
figure out how to do it, but I have a feeling that it's probably possible.

I want to take a block of cells and paste it (by hand) into another equal
sized block of cells. These are plain old numbers.

But this is what I want to happen: I want the cells being pasted in to be
ADDED to the cells that are already there.

Basically, it's a kind of "paste special" where the values are added to
what's there already. I need to do this by hand because it's manual work
where I have to cut and paste from sheets in various places.

If I can't figure out how to do it in some elegant way like this, then I'll
have no choice but to laboriously build up the formulas by hand.

Any ideas here?

Thanks,

John

"Ask and you shall find, eh?" I looked again carefully at the Paste Special,
and there it was .. duh.

Well, I hope somebody else learned of this useful item from this :-)

Hi

you're totally on the right track, select your cells, go to the destination
area and choose edit / paste special - then choose ADD and click OK.

Wow, Julie, you were so fast that you got there before I could even reply!
Who knows what other things I should know about!

Thanks,

John
