The pictures i try to paste in all my office programs do not show up. they
only show a box with eight squares in it. i have read other discussions and
nothing has worked. please help.

A few possibilities come to mind:
1. In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | check the "Drawings" box and
uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print | check the "Drawing objects"
box | OK.
2. You should be in Print Layout view when working with graphics. Are you?
3. If the pictures are in encapsulated postscript (.eps) files that were
created without previews, then only an empty box will appear on the screen
when pasted into an Office application, but they will print correctly to a
postscript-capable printer.
4. Have you installed the appropriate graphic filter for the file format
you are pasting? In newer versions of Word, look in the "C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt" folder.

Do any of these suggestions help? If not, write back with what version of
Word/Office you are using, what kind of images you are pasting, and the
method you are using to paste the images. You should have included this
information in your post to begin with.
