Can anybody suggest a way to open password encoded
documents or suggest a (free) programme that will help
me? I've lost the password to a rather important
document, and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Faith.

If you could do this easily, there would be no point having a password.
Word's encryption is excellent and all but unbreakable. There are crackers
out there on the web, but how successful or expensive they will be is
something you'll have to investigate for yourself. These tools are unlikely
to be as fast as claimed, especially if you have used a complex password of
random characters, and there is always the downside of giving your credit
card details to someone who cracks passwords for a living.

Use *at your own risk*.
