Todd

I would like to password protect a workbook so that when
the workbook is selected to open a dialog box pops up
asking for the password and after the password is entered
correctly the workbook will then open. Thanks for the the
help.

Todd, do a save as and look under options, depending on what version you are
using and set a password to open

Hi Todd!

With Excel 2002 and 2003 two routes are now available:

Tools > Options > Security

Select from alternatives available

Impose or Change password

Re-confirm password or passwords

OK

OR (As before with Excel 2000)

File > Save As > Tools > General Options

Select from alternatives available

Impose or Change password

Re-confirm password or passwords

OK

Save

With Excel 97

File > Save As > Options
Check and enter as appropriate
OK
Save
