Log in under the backup administrator account that you created as soon as
you installed your OS in the event that the administator's password was ever
compromised or forgotten.

TIP FOR THE FUTURE: You should create password reset
disk. It's a feature provided by Windows XP and is
available at Control Panel->User Account. Click on the
main administrator account and click on "Prevent
forgotten password" underneath "Related Tasks". Insert a
blank disk in your floppy drive and follow the
instructions on the screen. Next time you forget the
password, insert the disk to reset it.
 
if you must, just install a second copy of xp then
harvest all of your files from it - should not be a
problem, but if it is, get winternals' admin. pack - with
it, you can get even tiny magnetic traces of wiped files
back if you want them
