I decided to password protect and put in a real simple password, plus
a promt question.
I then tested and it won't work. It shows prompt question ok but when
I try and type in the password it won't accept the first digit, it
clicks like the keyboard is locked, when I type 2nd digit it shows 2
digits. Could this be a keboard problem, tried all combinations
nothing work, the passowrd is not a problem ( it's my middle name, can
hardly get that wrong ) and was all lower case, tried everything,
nothing works. Ias a Compaz PC, all new.

Are you *sure* it was lower case? I expect you really typed your name
the way you normally do - with the first letter being upper case. In
any event, log in as another user with Administrator privileges and
change the password for your account.

Thanks for advice. Got the problem fixed eventually.
Here is the 'classic' reason. My PC operates with both Thai and
English Language modes, with dual language keyboard. Although I was
using English as the time and inserted English language/script
password, all totally normal, but XP/PC decided to record this as Thai
script. Now....that would/should not be a problem, and the keyboard
'hits' were on same buttons whatever, however, and here comes the
biggy....the first letter of my password does not denote a Thai
'character', it denotes a form of 'accent' to a Thai charter/letter,
hence, XP decides that it is not a letter and therefore will not
accept it!
These 'accents' and inserted after you have type the character, so
when I tried to type it in it would not accept, and appeared blcoked.
So a serious word of cauthion if you use dual-language like Thai,
Chinese, Japanese, or any language where there are 'accents' for
letters, XP does not 'allow for this'!
