I have a password to get into windows xp pro. If I were to loose my computer
can someone still access my hard drive and pull up my desktop and my files..?
If so how? Thanks in advance

Yes, they can just pull out the hard drive and put it another machine as a slave and take ownership
of the files and access them. You can prevent this by using encruption on Windows XP Pro under the
NTFS file system:

Yes
Parallel installation, Password crackers, Password re-setters, and my
personal favourite, user set password on own account but forgot to set
password on built-in Administrator account.
Passwords are not like wedding bands, although they will keep an
honest woman out they wont make an honest woman of her. ;)

If someone has physical control of the drive they can read the data off
it. The only thing to stop this is if the data files are encrypted. I
see that Anando gave you a link about EFS encryption in XP Pro (XP Home
does not support it. There are other 3rd party encryption tools as
well). Know that EFS is fraught with stumbling blocks so that it's
often referred to as the delayed recycle bin because of the potential
for you loosing access to the data. Before venturing down the road of
encryption make sure you read everything you can and know what you are
doing.

Yes. One can access anything you've done.

Yes, certainly. Without physical security, there is no security.
Given access a computer and a little time, any semi-knowledgeable
individual can access the full contents of the hard drive. Only
encrypted files would be reasonably safe.

If so how?

1) Linux-based password cracking utilities abound on the Internet,
freely available to anyone who can use Google.

2) Simply by removing the hard drive from your computer and slaving it
into another computer.

Greetings,

It is also possible to use special tool, such as Active@ password
changer to reset password. That tool ded helped me some times before,
when I forgot mine. That should also help any of those who get in my
situation.
