Password Protect a Folder

I have had no trouble password protecting a document, but
I can't seem to find a way to protect an entire folder.

WinXP's file security paradigm doesn't rely on, or allow, the
cumbersome method of password protection for individual applications,
files, or folders. Instead, it uses the superior method of explicitly
assigning file/folder permissions to individual users and/or groups.

Of course, if you have WinXP Pro, you can encrypt the desired
files/folders.

As a work-around, you can place the file in a compressed folder,
and set a password to uncompress the folder to view/access its
contents.

How did you password protect a document? XP doesn't allow you to
specifically do that. Permissions in XP are based on user accounts. You
can grant access to files/folders to specific users of your system. If
everyone uses the same user account to login to the system -it's not going
to work.

Their word processing folder may allow for passwords, ala Word.
