I set a password for windows in XP pro and windows boots right through like
nothing is there. The password is there when I use task manager to try to
change it though. Why is n't it working?

start>run and type

control userpasswords2

then select "user must enter a user name and password to use this computer."

If you would like to use the welcome screen then start>run and type

nusrmgr.cpl

select "Change the way users log or off" then select "use the welcome
screen."

If you do not want the welcome screen, do not select "use the welcome
screen.". You will then get a classic logon type prompt.

Hi Victor,

To clear the autologon settings:

Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK. In the dialog box that appears, enable Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box, and then click OK.
