What is the default length of time that a password expires
in windows 2000 professional on a stand alone machine?
And can it be changed?

To change it, use local Computer policy to navigate to
Computer Configurations / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Account
Policies / Password Policy and set Maximum password age.
