If using Windows 95,98 or ME, you have to be logging on to Windows. Windows
doesn't require it, but password autocomplete does.

Did you ever get a helpful reply? People always say to
to go Autocomplete and check the 'remember passwords'
box, but that is a no brainer....it's been checked since
Day 1, but IE still will not remember a single password I
enter even though, as you state, I ask it to remember it
each time.
