Partitions query

Hi all
Upon defragging I have noticed approx, ffifteen, separate, unmoveable green
files.
I originally started out with one. I suspect I have unknowingly created
multi partitions, (I think). Is there a way to return to original 1 green
file without using a third party application, and attempt a Clean/repair
install instead? Also I stupidly have not backed anything up. Also if left
as is, would it have any adverse affects on the machine's operation. Thanks
for any help.

You're getting a little carried away with the defrag process.
While having all files completely contiguous may give you
a deep inner satisfaction, it makes no measurable difference
to the performance of your machine. In other words, stop
worrying about a few discontinous files! And no, you don't
have any inadvertently created partitions. Creating partitions
ain't that easy!

However, your backup situation is of concern. Get yourself
a 2.5" disk and an external USB case, then start backing up
your important files (including your EMail files!) every week.
To play it really safe, restore some (including your EMail
files!) so that you know that the backup works.

there are a number of files
that will be bypassed by
the standard defrag-er.

what i suggest is to move
your pagefile to a separate
partition, if one is available.

further, to defrag the registry hive,
a freeware from microsoft.com
called "pagedefrag" will be a
handy utility.

i would configure the freeware
to run at boot time.
