Hello,

During the Windows XP installation, I tried to
repartition my hard drive ( 9 gig ). It has two
partitions on it (2047mb & 6953mb). At present, I have
Windows NT 4 w/ SP5. I would like to repartition drive
c: to make that partition larger. I've tried: a)fdisk ;
b)custom install from Windows XP install cd. I keep
getting a message saying that the drive could not be
formatted because it has system files on it.

Hellllllpppppppp!!!!

You cannot repartition without losing data unless you use third party
software like Partition Magic or BootITNG.

The alternative is partition, format and reinstall.

You either have to use third party software, like Partition Magic, or do
it as part of the installation after booting the CD. Take New Install,
when it asks where hit ESC and delete the existing partitions and make a
new RAW one to format at the next stage. On that size hard drive, which
is going to be a bit tight, I would make the whole drive as a single
partition
