I have a 2nd backup drive (Seagate 111 gig) and the properties of the disc
show Partition style: GUID Partition Table (GPT), seems like it should say
something else but I'm not sure what, the reason I ask is because 3
different types of disc image software will not detect this drive. Any
suggestions? Thanks

GPT discs can be read only by 64 bit operating systems. There is more info
here -

An intersesting article but one that I suspect is out of date (last updated
in 2003). At the time the claims were no doubt accurate but I suspect things
might be different now.

Certainly, there is nothing inherent in GPT disk formats that requires a 64
bit OS or 64 bit hardware - the article is simply saying that at the time
the article was written, GPT support had only been added to Microsoft's 64
bit based OSes, because at that time it looked like the Itanium was going to
be a big part of the future and the Itanium absolutely required EFI hardware
support, and EFI requires GPT disks.

GPT disks can be created and used by Vista 32 & 64, but not for System or
Boot disks. They are not recognised by XP. It's unlikely that you would want
this on a backup drive. The real benefit of GPT (at the moment) is greter
than 2TB support. At some time in the future (but not until the motherboard
guys get on board) it will provide enhanced boot capabilities. I'd change
the partition style if I were you
