Having to HD system on disk 0 and data on disk 1,
Lost partintion info on disk 1 and can't see it any more
after booting.
Have tried to installed Support tools and got an error
message, ignor that specific script and tried Diskprobe
which did not identified disk 1 so eventualy could not
fixe it's partition table.

Any idea that might help

Hi Mark,

Did you have a software or hardware mirror on the system
previous to this? I do not have enough information to
accurately diagnose this issue.

Thanks,

No I do not have mirror

This is actually a fat32 disk,
What would happen if I will try to install an NTFS
partitions over it using XP repair, or convert to NTFS,
will I loose data?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

In theory such a conversion "should not" result in data
loss, however I would back everything up before I
performed the conversion. As to the original problem, can
you answer the following questions?
1 Are the HD's SCSI or IDE?
2 Have perform either a hardware upgrade or a Windows
update/driver installation recently that you feel might
be related to the issue.
Otherwise, your HD might be dead. Software for example,
called 'GetDataBack' might help you recover it in that
case. If it appears to just be the Partition Table,
search on google for a program called 'restsect.exe' and
create a DOS bootable floppy with that program added to
it. Run the program from Dos after booting with the
floppy and it may allow you to access the partition
successfully again.

Thanks Neil, I"LL try it

Yes this is an IDE and I have tied to upgrade the System
on that disk.
