My hard drive virus {boot up} programme sasy to work it needs to
partition my hard drive to create back up, and then asks for size I
want to allocate to C & D Drives.
Does partitioning wipe what is already on C Drive?

Yes, it does.

Thanks I thought as much, so seems all it would back up is the
CMOS!
Can't navigate in CMOS to turn off this option which appears
at boot up.

ie arrow keys impotent at that screen.

There is something strange going on here. I'm aware
that some BIOSs can low-level format a disk but I've
never seen a BIOS that can partition a disk. I suspect
foul play, perhaps from some virus that's infected
your machine.

Your first step should be to carefully read the manual
that came with your PC. It has a section on the BIOS.
Does it say anything in there about the BIOS
partitioning your disk, and how to turn this off?

Its Trend Chip Away Virus protection on the Award BIOS, which I gather
is now called Phoenix.

See
http://www.trendmicro.com/en/about/news/pr/archive/1999/pr062199.htm

When I was in CMOS and could navigate, I had selected the option for it
to activate at next boot up; so each time after initial screen I get
POP UP
saying Install/Not Intsall HDD Virus Protection.

Doing some further research since I see its no longer included these
days
as was problematical.

Not being able to get into my CMOS now I'm sure I wasnt silly enough
[even if there was such an option] to disable keyboard. I've tried
another board in PS2 slot and it lights up at boot up, and works at 1st
screen if I press "del" to enter CMOS, but then that's it.

Thanks for post

Since you can't get into your BIOS (and I honestly didn't follow your
explanation of why not but it doesn't matter), follow instructions from
the manual for clearing the BIOS. There may be some jumpers to change
or you may only need to remove the battery for a few hours. This will
put your BIOS back to factory default. Now don't enable the HDD Virus
Protection (a really stupid idea anyway).

"Don't Panic"

I don't know of anyone recommending using the seven year old HDD virus
protection.

How about Tab, or number-pad arrows (8,6,2,4)?
