I am running a windows 2003 Enterprise server,the C drive
is having a huge 8gb pagefile.sys.
I have tried to delete it
1.using recovery console -tried to copy boot.ini to
pagefile.sys
2.using safemode
3.formated the disk and reinstalled the OS,it came back in
couple of days
4.installed a backup operating system and tried to remove
it from there ,still does'nt work.

What else can i try to get rid of this Monster file.
Please Help!!!

Thanks

As its name suggests this is the Pagefile used for Virtual memory. Not sure
where the setting is in W2K3 but here is how to change it in WXP:

Control Panel --> Performance and Maintenance -->System --> Advanced -->
Performance Settings --> Advanced --> Virtual Memory--> Change

Good Luck

PS

"This post is MY opinion only."

Pagefile.sys is a critical system file used by the operating system for
memory management. You should not delete it, but you can decrease the size
of the file.
To do that navigate to control panel -> System -> Advanced -> Click
Settings in thePerformance section -> Advanced -> Click Change in the
Virtual Memory section.
This location allows you to control the size and location of pagefile.sys.
