Does anyone know if it is possible to put a pagefile on a dynamic disk?
When I attempt to do this pagefile.sys appears on the disk but Disk Manager
does not recognize that there is a pagefile on the disk. The allocation
appears to take place and is noted correctly under 'My Computer'->advanced
properties but the system's notion of available virtual memory space does
not reflect the newly allocated space. Is this a bug/a problem/a
restriction? Most confused - any help greatly appreciated.

The Windows XP Resource Kit (Chapter 12 - Disk Management) indicates
that it is possible for the drive that contains the paging file to be
converted from a basic to a dynamic disk; so that implies that it is
possible to have the paging file on a dynamic disk.

However I cannot find any other specific references to this in the
Knowledge Base or in the other Windows XP references that I have.
Furthermore the late Alex Nichol MVP, in his article on virtual memory
in Windows XP at http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm stated:

"In relocating the page file, it must be on a ‘basic’ drive. Windows
XP appears not to be willing to accept page files on ‘dynamic’
drives."

Good luck
