PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA explain

whenever i enable my modem and log onto the web my comp.
shuts down and a blue screen appears with generally the
following error messages
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
or
IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL
please help me resolve this problem

As usual... Try safe mode w/network.
Run your antivirus (if only it isn't the culprit itself).
Get latest drivers & patches.
If nothingh helps, give up and reinstall XP...
 
Make sure you have the latest drivers for your modem and video card and the
latest updates from Windows Update.

I've run into this problem a couple times and it seemed to be related to my
USB flash drive - seems to be fixed since I did the latest USB-related
Windows Update.
