Hi, all,

THough not a new user, I'm new to this topic, and didn't
see a better newsgroup.

I'm making a document where each page has a picture up
top, and two text
boxes below. Lines separate the picture from the text,
and the two text
boxes from each other. I've got the page laid out like I
want it.

Is there any way for me to make this page a template so
that I don't have to
create all the element for each subsequent page? I can
make the document a
template and make each page a document, but that doesn't
seem very
efficient.

I could do it int Publisher, probably, but I have to share
this document
with other people who have only Word.

Thanks!
Bob

If you need to type in them, select the three items and make them an
AutoText entry.

If they are background for what you are typing, insert them in the header
for the document. (They can be in the header even if they cover the entire
page.)

I got this right from Help!

Create a document template
Do one of the following:
To base a new template on an existing document, click Open
on the File menu, and then open the document you want.

To base a new template on an existing template, click New
on the File menu. Click a template that is similar to the
one you want to create, click Template under Create New,
and then click OK.

On the File menu, click Save As.

In the Save as type box, click Document Template. This
file type will already be selected if you are saving a
file that you created as a template.

The default folder is the Templates folder in the Save in
box. To save the template so that it will appear on a tab
other than General, switch to the corresponding subfolder
within the Templates folder.

In the File name box, type a name for the new template,
and then click Save.

In the new template, add the text and graphics you want to
appear in all new documents that you base on the template,
and delete any items you don't want to appear.

Make the changes you want to the margin settings, page
size and orientation, styles, and other formats.

Click Save , and then click Close on the File menu.

Thanks, Charles - I used both of your suggestions. I put
the lines in the header, and just copied the text boxes to
the remaining pages.

Just a note for those of you following this thread, there
was one additional change I had to make to get the header
to be "full-page" length. In Page Setup > Margins, I set
the top margin to -1". Yes, "negative one". This
apparently locks the margin at 1 inch, but lets the header
extend further. Of course, any text on the page now
overlaps the header, but, because all my text is in text
boxes, and they don't overlie the lines I put in the
header, there was no problem.

Thanks, again,
Bob

Thanks, Gina. Your advice is right on, but it's for
making the whole document a template. I wanted to make
each page a template (repeat page layout within a
document), and that I couldn't find in the help
documentation.

Cheers,
Bob

The other way to make header contents lie behind the document body is to set
the text wrapping to Behind Text.
