Page Numbering

I'm trying to revise a publication. I need to add new or revised pages. Is
there a way to manually insert page numbers? I'm trying to keep the pages I
have numbered so far ( P-1, P-2), but when I need to insert a revised or new
page I need them numbered differently ( P-1 (rev. 1), P-2 (rev.1), P-3b). Is
this possible?

What you are asking typically requires a manual effort. For example,
you could place each page in a separate section and then type in each
page number in the footer, or you could use text boxes to add the page
numbers.

Obviously, either of these solutions is ideal, especially since Word
wouldn't be able to "see" the page numbers for table of contents,
cross-reference, and other purposes.
