Hello All,

Recently I was given a document that has references to other pages
throughout the document. Things like "To see how to connect widgets see page
9". Problem is, when I reformat the pages move, so I have to go over the
whole doc and re-reference pages.

I know there is something in Word where you can insert a field to connected
to a bookmark, or something like that.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for your support.

I'll try a step-by-step example for you:

1. Type "(See REFERENCE on Page )" on page one of a Word document.
2. Press CTRL+ENTER to create a page break (new page).
3. Type "REFERENCE" on page 2.
4. Highlight the word REFERENCE
5. Click "Insert", "Bookmark".
6. Type the "REF1" and click "Add".
7. Go back up to page 1 and place your cursor after "Page " and before the
")".
8. Click "Insert", "Reference, "Cross Reference".
9. On the "Reference type" dropdown select "Bookmarks". Select your
bookmark (REF1).
10. On the "Insert reference to" dropdown select "Page Number".
11. Click the "Insert" button.

That ought to do it. Holler back if it doesn't make sense!

Hello Bill,

You are too good!!

It made perfect sense and opened up a whole new world of large document
management.

Thanks a million!!!

Glad it worked for you. By the way if you want to be able to see where all
of these bookmarks are, you can click "Tools", "Options", "View" TAB and
check "Bookmarks" under the "Show" section. You will then see gray
"brackets" around your bookmarks.

Have fun!
