Hi all,

I am trying to move the page file and the hibernate file
(hiberfil.sys). I followed a procedure, but XP keeps
finding the page file on C: and of course I can't delete,
because the system is using it.

I know to change the location of the page file in Control
Panel> System> Advanced> Performance> Change. According
to some other info, XP (or NT or 2000) is supposed to
locate the hibernate file on the same disk. Even tho' I
change it, it is located on C: when I come back to check
it. When I reboot, the system is using the page file on
C:

I've disabled Hibernate (in Control Panel> Power Options>
Hibernate)

When I boot in Safe Mode, Page file is not on either C:
or the new drive. So I can't delete it.

Any ideas? Please respond to Hollingd @aol.com (without
the space) of course.

Thanks alot!

Both the page file and hibernation file must remain on the same
partition as the Windows XP operating system.

No so. Pagefile can reside on a different vol, preferably with NTFS file systemlike the system drive, as long as that volume is available to the system at startup. In other words, it probably would not work on an external USB drive because that volume would not be available until after usb drivers were loaded during bootup.
