I'm running Windows XP on a cable connection. Never had
any problems before. For some reason, can't pull up a
particular website. I tried to ping it through command,
but I get no response. I ping other websites and it works
fine. Please help. Reply to (e-mail address removed)

ps: don't forget to take out the nospam.

sounds like either the site has moved/no longer exists or
there is a problem with it's dns registration. If other
websites are okay it probably isn't anything at your end.

You don't say which site you are trying to access, so I
can't try it for myself.

I would not worry too much if you cannot ping a specific
site. Many firewalls filter out this type of traffic,
both locally and remotely. You could try a tracert
instead, and see if that helps locate where you are
losing the "signal."

I would agree that if you can't access one particular web
site, the web site is probably down, or there is
something interfereing with the site. Are you running
any Parental Control or firewall products?

Can you get a response from a "nslookup
www.websitename.com"? This should provide an IP address
of the site. If this comes back undefined, the problem
is that there is no DNS entry for this site, and your
computer cannot resolve the name of the web site to an IP
address.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Jack
