Hi VIPER
Further explanation;
Thanks 4 u'r help Jan, but none of these worked. This problem started to
oocur after installing win XP pro sp2 and the sp for IE6. All computers on
my
network experience the same problem. For example,
www.msn.com works fine
and
fast, this help page works fine, goto something like
www.cuisinart.com/...then I get ...The page cannot be displayed ...The
page
you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your
browser
settings...Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer.
I then tried to install Opera Browser and attempt a workaround but I get
the
same problem....then i tried to goto the iTunes store via the actual
iTunes
software and that actually works fine...all these problems did occur after
the win xp update sp2 and possibly after the malicious software tool
update
to be even more specific...all computers vary in age but all have the same
problem....I tried eliminating the router with only a hard wire connection
to
the modem and same problem...connected modem to my XBOX and the
internet/modem connection is fine....my guess is the problem is related to
one of the many xp updates...i think???? Any other help out there
plzzzzzz.
Thank you for the detailed information. You say that you have the same
problem with Opera, so that may indicate that the problem is not an IE
related problem. Try the following in order on one of the machines then
check and see if the problem persists:
1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

2 If you have Zone Alarm Pro installed check the information below. If
not, just ignore.
First.right click on the ZA Icon on the system tray, down by your clock, and
be sure that the "Stop all internent activity" is not checked.

Have you granted Generic Host Process and Windows Explorer 'access' in your
Programs List? Also double check your DNS server IP with ipconfig/all again
and make sure the correct IP has been entered.
also.
Add your DNS and DHCP servers to the Trusted Zone of your firewall zones
panel. Finding DNS and DCHP servers, etc
1. Go to Run type in command , hit 'ok', and type ipconfig /all then press
enter. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with
the IP address(s) listed out to the side.
2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall>Zones tab click Add and then select
IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted.
3. Click OK and then Apply and see if that works to fix it..
Zone Alarm Pro can block access to Internet

3. Do a system restore to return your system to a point prior to installing
the SP2 and updates to see if the problem still exists.

or

4. If it does resolve the problem then you can install SP2 again and then
check for problems. If all seems well, then try the other updates *one at a
time* and check after each one to see which one, if any, may be the culprit.
There are some that do seem to interfere. This will let you know if there
are any immediate update issues causing the problem.
Hope this helps
Jan
