page can not be displayed

I have hooked my new modem to my computer. Cable people
can conect to the modem, but everytime I go in internet
explorer it always says "page can not be displayed" yes
all my settings are right... I have been on the phone
with cable people, modem people and Dell....Im at my wits
end, not a single person can help me. I dont know if XP
is not working, how do i check that???
 
tools/internet options/delete files, check delete all offline content click
'ok' check if firewall is blocking something

Please provide ipconfig information for your computer, maybe a clue there.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

From a command window (Start - Run - "cmd"):
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

From your browser:
3) Browse www.yahoo.com.
4) Browse 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.
