Page Break Lines

I am composing a multipage/multisection document. I am using
Format/Bullets and Numbering/ and things are working out okay except I
am seeing a page break line after about five lines on one page, however
it prints out okay. In another case I have a Subsection starting after
starting 1/3 down the page. Just the Subsection title of the new
subsection prints on the page the rest of the page is blank and the
rest of the subsection prints out on the next page. I went to
Format/Paragraphs /Line/page breaks and checked "Keep with Next" after
indicating what paragraphs I wanted to be on the same page with the
subsection title and that worked. Orphans and Widows was checked I
unchecked it. Now the page is set like I wanted it.

Question: It seems Word arbitrarily isolated that subsection title, but
I'm sure there is a setting or something that is controlling this. I'd
appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this.

I am using Word97/Windows 98

TIA

My guess is that your problem was caused by having too many paragraphs
marked as "Keep with next" in the first place. Adding that property to the
subsection title just added it to the "lump." If you want the subsection
title to start a new page, format it as "Page break before" and "Keep with
next" and leave the rest of the paragraphs alone. Note that if you are using
Word's built-in heading styles, the first few levels are all formatted as
"Keep with next" by default (on the assumption that they will be followed by
body text), so if you have a lot of "headings" consecutively, this will
cause a problem.

I see. Since I'm just establishing (Outlining) the document I have a
lot of titles and subtitles with little or no text yet.

Thanks again.
