Package to CD error: "path name too long"

I have a working PPT presentation (Office 2003) but when I try to Package to
CD a dialogue box comes up and it starts to do this, but then returns the
error message, "pathname too long" and will not copy the presentation. It
only copies the Powerpoint Viewer to the CD, which is of no use. The
location of my ppt presentation is simply on my C drive a couple of levels
down.

Any idea what is wrong and how to get round this?

When you say a couple, what does that translate into in characters? I would
copy the presentation and all linked sounds, graphics and files to
"c:\PPTexport" directory and try it again.

Make sure that all the linked stuff is in the same folder and correctly
linked (relative, not absolute paths).

Thanks Bill,
I can move the ppt file easily, but what is linked to it and how do I
determine that? I only have slides that have pictures, or just text.

In that case, you probably don't have any linked files. Files that are
linked usually consist of sound and video files. (Sometimes PDFs or Excel or
Word files, but most often sound and video.) If you only have photos and
text on your slides, chances are, you don't have any linked files. So you
can just put your presentation in the folder, "C:\PPTexport."
