I've got a simple P2P network on a 24 port hub. Everything is perfect
except for the ONE XP machine that cannot see the network. This
machine can see only 1 other PC on the network, another XP machine in
another office. Every other PC (XP, 98, 2000, etc) can see each other
with no difficulty.

Any ideas on how to get that XP machine to "wake up?"

Make sure that all of the computers on the network use the same,
single network protocol -- running more than one protocol, on even one
computer, can disrupt network browsing, especially when XP is
involved.

On the XP machine, verify that the selected protocol is bound to
"Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing":

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Click Advanced | Advanced Settings.
3. Select the appropriate network adapter in the upper window.
4. Add check marks, if necessary, to the boxes in the lower window.
