Please could someone help...
We have recently discovered Porn on our computer, which
nobody in our family know about/or know how it has
infultrated our machine.

We delete all the contents but once we reboot the machine
it re-appears? I have deleted the folders which hold the
contents of the porn BUT it recreates the folders on a
restart and it reappears. Has anyone had this kind of
problem before?

I have downloaded and installed the spybot that some kind
chap suggested and it found some entries which were
deleted i then went and deleted the dubious files and
folders and rebooted the machine and the problems STILL
comes back ... I.E the porn reappears.

What in the hell's name is going on?????????/

Please Please Please help.

Some dubious program (or virus?) may be being executed on your computer
at startup.

I suggest you download a recent version of a popular virus scanner.

If it fails to find anything interesting, open the Windows registry, and
examine the following folders. The keys they contain form a list of
programs executed at startup:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

Look for applications you don't recognise. Investigate them, and delete
anything suspicious.

There are others you may wish to check out:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]

hi

try this

http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?
part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button

it is a link to a peice of software that may help, it is
ADware from lavasoft. Lavasoft is the industry leader
and most respected provider of anti Trackware solutions
so it should do the job.

if that fails try this site which is good for this type
of thing.

http://www.cexx.org/

and look under "Ad Nauseam" for dealing with your problem

hope this helps BYE :)

To get rid of this and keep your computer safe, you need the following:

A good Anti-Virus program, updated and run frequently.

A good firewall like Zone Alarm or the built in XP firewall
ZoneAlarm is available free at:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Ad-Aware 6.0 - for removing spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot Search & Destroy - for removing spyware
http://www.safer-networking.org/

CWShredder - gets rid of page hijackers
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

Google Toolbar - for blocking popups

http://toolbar.google.com/

Before running the Spybot and Ad-Aware, delete temporary internet files
and internet history.

Turn off system Restore.
