I want to delete my entire harddrive and start over from
scratch with XP. But when I try to delete my only
partition during setup I receive a "cannot delete because
some setup files are located on this partition" message.
So I am running a multiple OS pc. Can any one help me
with deleting this and only running XP?

This should be cake, Dannie. You need a few things. Either
a full version XP disk or and upgrade disk and a real
copy of Windows 95 , 98 or ME - not recovery disks from
OEM - DISCLAIMER TIME:You do realize this will remove
FOREVER any and ALL data on the partition. If you are
cool with that then....
When you boot off of the cd and go to install XP fresh -
and it gives you the partition data - press D to delete
the partition. If you read this next part CAREFULLY it
may say to press "Enter" to delete this system folder.
Then it will prompt you to press "L" if you are
absolutely , positively 100%...well you get what I
mean.:) Then you will get the same Partition data again -
press "c" to create a new partition- press enter if you
are going to use the entire HDD as 1 partition ( if not,
enter the size you want - then follow the
instructions...Recommend you format this partition NTFS -
NOT THE NTFS QUICK...
The "full" format will do a checkdisk fro you and map out
any bad spots for the system so as to avoid placing
important data in a hosed part of the HDD.
See how this goes and good luck.
