I have so much garbage on my computer that I do not know where to start
removing it. Also I do not know what some of it is. Does anyone have any
idea of how I can go about finding out what it is. Example:(B) MS-C
wordfinder, CGI- lid, I do not know what these are and I do not know how to
find out. I have many such things.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Betty

Take a deep breath. Then, go get yourself some tools to help you.
Start with

Ad-Aware 6.0 - for removing spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot Search & Destroy - for removing spyware
http://www.safer-networking.org/

Download, install update, and run each of them. Before you do, delete
temporary internet files and internet history.

Then, you need a good firewall like Zone Alarm or the built in XP firewall
ZoneAlarm is available free at:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Then, go get yourself a free popup blocker.
Google Toolbar - for blocking popups

http://toolbar.google.com/

Make sure you have anti-virus software enable and updated. Run it often.

After you've done all this, post back if you still have problems.

There is nothing wrong with cross-posting. That's why almost every
newsreader out that will allow the user to do it.

Please take your personal pet peeves, and shove them firmly up your
arse.

I think his beef was with cross posting to completely unrelated and
useless newsgroups.

And who voted for Rocky or you to be the judge of what are "unrelated
and useless newsgroups" for any given post? Totally subjective,
especially when Rocky charaterized it as "rude."

Though I don't doubt the the digital media group is "useless." Anyone
that buys into DRMed damaged-goods Digital Media needs their head
examined, and no MS newsgroup could possibly be of any use for that!

So in which part of the newsgroup title did you see 'newbie help',
'security fix', 'virus prevention' ? I've called your optician, so no
need to worry about that one ;-)

The user has hopefully now been pointed to a newsgroup where more
appropriate help might be found, but really its quite pointless for
trolls such as yourself to keep on about it.

I guess fyi, this buy-in you talk about is based on uninformed
speculation, I'm possibly one of the only open-source mvp's around, as
a PHP/MySQL developer on linux platforms with a preference for real
player digital encoding and distribution, cross browser development
and web accessibilty, I find your comments crashingly boring and
utterly pointless.

One final point I guess 'MS' newsgroups are the same as any other
newsgroup, just a distributed nntp discussion which has no link to any
sponsoring organisation. So Yah, that blows, huh ?

Take it steady dude,
Neil.

Ok Neil. Even I have to admit that I can't figure out a good reason why the
OP included Windows Media groups, BUT that doesn't mean the OP doesn't have
one.

Sorry, I won't go. I'm nearsighted but I'm starting to have problems
reading with my glasses on. I ain't gonna have no optician try and
prescribe me bifocals! :)

Actually, all I have to do for the moment is remove my glasses to read
clearly, but now my forehead has the same pressure marks from my glasses, as
my nose has!

Huh? I saw no such pointing in this thread.

Naw! As long as people like you keep replying, there is alway a point to
make.

No it's not. From an individual consumers point of view, any copyrighted
product that is copy-protected from the paying customer in order to prevent
it from being "fairly used" is damaged goods.

That is not speculation, that is this individual's opinion!

LOL! Real Player! I'll stick with formats that aren't proprietary.

ROFL! While MS offers no formal support in these PUBLIC groups, the do
censor the hell out of them. Also MS hosts these groups on their own web
site, and many, if not most in my group don't even post through a nntp
server, but though a web browser from MS's web server.

"So Yah, that blows, huh?"
Take it steady dude,
Neil.

No thanks. I'd rather have fun!

Sorry, I thought you were implying I'd bought in to DRM (unlikely as

Agree.

OK but the real situation is, real have thrown open helix producer
source code, so its definitely a step in the right direction if not
actually a GNU licence. Still to see Apple or MS open-blah
initiaitives reach actual source-code levels.

I've never been censored, and I hold some pretty inflammatory
(possibly heretical) opinions LOL. I track each post I put up and they
haven't disappeared. Once it's out on the nntp servers it's
distributed for keeps - google groups is also a nice archive if the
unthinkable happens.

Ciao, presumably, for now.

I have, way too many times. I post through MS's servers most of the time,
so sometimes mine get pulled before it is distributed further. MS is just
wasting time and money though, because I just repost through Google, or my
ISP nntp server. Then it's gets pulled again, but then I post the link to
it at Google, and then there ain't much they can do about posting a link.
Ciao, presumably, for now.

Auf Wiedersehen.
