Overtyping

I don't know why it started doing this and I can't find out how to stop the
overtyping - it drives me crazy.

You have probably hit the 0 on the number pad without the NumLock turned on.
This switchesthe overtype on. You should also see OVR in the status bar. Go
to Tools | Options and the Edit tab and you can switch it off there. Hope
this helps.
