I have a PST file that has exceeded the 2GB size
limitation. I was able to run the crop tool to truncate
the file. I ran it several time to find the smallest
amount that could be truncated for the file to be
restored. Unfortunately the data that is truncated is
the one folder that contains the most essential data. Is
there any way to get the crop tool (or is there another
tool available) to eliminate another portion of the PST
file so that the data at the end of the file can be
recovered?

Yes, open the pst-file in a HEX editor and remove some data halfway the
file. Then use the regular scanpst.exe to undo the corruption you've just
caused. See if your loss is acceptable now. If not; repeat the process
somewhere else in the file. Don't forget to create a good back-up before you
start with anything!

As you are having a vast amount of data in your PST, then I recommend that you should try in a utility tool which can copy the e-mails present in yourexisting PST folder to the Live Exchange Server or new PST folder. After that you can deleted those mails present in your existing PST which you havetransferred to new PST or Live Exchange Server.

There is a many tools to ost file to pst conversion. But personally i will suggest you this one ost to pst email migrataion tool to convert your files.. Because this tool also support exchange and outlook 2010 and 2013.
