Hi,

I have a Sony Laptop on Windows XP (Home) and its keeps shuting down after
ive been using it for more than a few hours. The back and especially under
the machine become really hot. It has plenty of ventilation and all the vents
are clean.

Any help please

Buy an external cooling device for the laptop. The ones I've seen are under
the laptop and have fans that keep cool air moving.

Vents are nice but laptops rely highly on the fan for tempeture mntce, make
sure its running,if in doubt,replace.

I had the same issue with a Toshiba labtop. It worked fine for like a hour
or so, the it would reboot. I thought it was a cooling issue and send it to
Toshiba for repairs. To make a long story short, the repair(s) didn't work.
I searched their website and found out there was a known issue with my BIOS
version (I was like 4 versions behind) regarding a bug misreading the
motherboard's temperature. I havent had the problem since updating the BIOS.
Hope this helps.
