Overclocking in windows

I'm looking to build a new system, and being the
overclocker I am, I want the most I can get for the least
I can pay. My question is this:

Based on yalls expirence whats the best overclocking chip
out there that will STABLY boot into windows? Right noy I
have a 2.4ghz P4C ocd to 3.2ghz equaling a 800mhz
overclock. Is there anything better out there right now
Intel or AMD?

I'm not into overclocking so can't comment on that. Did want to mention:
When installing XP use default or moderate settings for the board. Once XP
is in, then do your tweaking.
 
Try a water-cooled system. http://www.cluboverclocker.com/
The mobo is key as is cooling. Get 10,000 rpm drives.
Since you can buy a 3.4 GHz CPU and maybe OC to 4.2, be sure
the video is equally fast. Buy a fire extinguisher (CO2 is
cold and won't leave residue) because you may need it.

You won't do too much better than that unless you want to move to a P4 3.2
EE or 3.4 EE with 2MB of L3 cache, which will set you back ~ $1000USD.

The Socket 939 Athlon64 processors, especially the FX variety, are also
worth a look.

Very true, but there is the adrenaline rush that comes with
overclocking. Will it work, will it fry? Oooh, I can't wait :)

Anyways, here is my specs you might like. You really should head over
to overclocking websites and check their systems for ideas.

I have hit this on air cooled and was stable for a few hours (but
finally crashed after 5 hours of burnins).

ASUS P4P800 1.2 GHz FSB
Intel P4 2.6C @ 3.9 GHZ (have taken it to 4.2, but was unstable after a
half an hour of use due to heat)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB flashed to ATI Radeon 9800XT 128MB (This
requires a R360 Core)
NEC ND2500A DVD Writer flashed to ND2510A (Still haven't tried DL Media
though everything else works perfectly)
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (Not overclocked) :p
Corsair PC3200 512 MB (2x256MB) on old BH5 chips at 2-2-2-6 OCed to 415
MHz :D

What is important is to get a MB that locks your AGP/PCI frequencies.
Those are some of the highest marks I have hit while still being
somewhat stable on my computer. I have backed it off a bit for normal
use since there is no point in sacrificing stability for performance on
this computer. Instead I am only running at 3.25 GHz (1 GHz FSB) and
400 MHz on the memory at 2-2-2-6.

AMD's OC well too. You may like this article:

They are very spendy. I know I just bought one. It will cost close to
$900 (US).

Very nice. Have you decided on a motherboard yet ?
The Asus and Abit Socket 939 boards look promising.
