I've screwed up everything on my new Vista and want to just go over the top
install (like I could do in XP) but when I re-boot with the DVD, it doesn't
do anything.

Any ideas??

Something must happen.
Blinking curser?
Boots to windows?
Error message?

Until the MS Ouiji board or crystal ball is released, you might need to
provide further details.

Not sure what you mean by booting from the DVD doesn't do anything. Yes you
can do an upgrade with the Vista DVD over an installed copy. That is the
comparable process to the repair install in XP.

So what exactly did you do and what doesn't happen?

You might need to go into the BIOS and select "Boot from CD" or put the DVD
drive as the first boot device. Then it should come up and say "Press any
key to boot from CD/DVD".
