Outtlook inbox and another folder disappeared on Midnite Thursday Oct. 28, 2004..

Restored five restore points on service pack 2 and none of them have my
inbox or other folder. Can you reimage and get it bacik? Can I return to
s3ervice pack 1a and get them back? HELP!!!
 
Try this. Get Dbxtract

Read the instructions for the prog, it's very easy to use.Make a folder on
your desktop to extract the files to. Open windows explorer and navigate to
C:\Documents and Settings\*your account*\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\{ * bunches of #'s and letters*}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express.Paste this into the "path" in Dbxtract. Extract your In Box .dbx
Sent Items .dbx or what ever you want to recover, to the folder you made on
the desktop. When you click on one of the files it may not open. If this
happens click "open with" and then choose either outlook express or if
that's not given as an option, other program\Outlook Express and choose
msimn .exe

Well of course it didn't! System Restore has no effect whatsoever on data
files. If you've deleted the folder, it's gone, there is no way to restore
it. You must have deleted it, or you've a virus that did so (though I don't
know of any that would do so). You cannot go back to SP1 once you've SP2
installed (and the disappearing folder has nothing whatsoever to do with SP2
as it has no effect on any files or folders other than Windows system
files).

What do you mean by "reimage"? If you mean return to factory settings then,
yes, but it would mean you lose all data and any customisations you may have
made. You would need to back everything up first.

If that isn't what you meant, please clarify.
 
That is not true on two counts. I did not delete my folders, they just
diaappeared and I got them back.I had the same thing happen to me and this
method got my files back for me.

I was talking to the OP, not you. *Do* learn how to follow a thread!
 
1. I know to *WHOM* you where speaking in the thread
2. I was correcting your *MISINFORMED* reply
3. I think that *YOU* need to write more clearly or don't bother posting at
all
4. You added *NOTHING* worthwhile to the post.
