Where can I find the latest Agnitum Outpost FREE?
If it's on their site, it's well hidden.

Thanks Ivan.
I already had that version which dates back to 2002 I think.
I used it before XP came out, but I cannot get it to run on my current
system. I'm off to try ZA.

I am surpised that anyone having used Outpost would go backwards to
ZoneAlarm. Sygate Personal Firewall or NetPeeker would be more obvious
choices.

What is the problem with the program or your system ?

Normally when I open Tbird or Ffox they automatically connect (always dial
my default connection). With Outpost running they just sit there (hanging).
I have tried dialling up directly and that works after giving OP
permission, but it still just hangs if I disconnect and try to go in thro'
Tb or Ff. Giving Tb and Ff specific permission from OP's settings does not
help either and that is with XP's firewall off.
ZA seems quite happy.

I must admit that I have been through this rigmarole several times before
and came down to Outpost having tried all (except Netpeeker). I have
explained my problems in another reply and have installed ZA which appears
to be doing a good job using the various firewall test sites.
What is wrong with ZA and why would the others be 'better'?
It seems to come down to who you ask.

I must admit not having looked at ZA for quite a while. It used to be
very crude in allowing or blocking a connection to the internet. No
finetuning when it came to specific ports. For instance the first rule
I set is disallowing access to port 80 for my e-mail client.

Also ZA gave little or no information about the open connections.
Outpost gave me all that and I used it happily until stumbling across
NetPeeker, which is very useful for my work and also offers some
firewall and pop-up clocking functionality.

A year ago I also tested Sygate for a while and also found it very
complete, although maybe a tad less clear than Outpost.

Thanks Ivan.

That IS the latest version. Outpost free has been dumped and no
development on it for over 2 years, which alone makes it a poor choice
for a firewall.

You can run ZA if you want, but issues about resource hogging, poor port
control, and ownership make it about the last thing I'd use.

Ahh, your "Israeli" plot ?
