OL2000: (IMO) Your Password Is Not Retained in Windows 2000 or Windows XP

The above also applies to Internet Explorer and other applications that use
the Protected Storage System Provider registry key to store passwords.

I have the same problem & have tried all these steps to
resolve it, no problem in deleting everything in
Protected Storage System Provider key, but I am still
unable to enter the passwords in Outlook & OE6 & have
them retained. I cannot understand why this has
happened, I have had this system for over a year &
nothing like this has happened before. Why would it
happen & is there anything else I can do to resolve it?
The first thing I tried to do was use system restore, but
that won't work either. Do I have a virus or some kind
of conflict?

Go to Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC Locate the Protected Storage
service, make sure its set to Started and Automatic.
