I am receiving email with attachments and when I attempt
to save the email the
attachments drop off. I then tried opening the attachment
and then saving it. It saves it to a file "OLKD" but when
I search for the document or the file, it indicates
neither exist.

please help...

In what format are you saving these messages? When you select File | Save
As... what is selected in the Save as type: field? Saving the message as an
MSG file would retain the attachment.

THis article explains why Outlook is using that folder.

Temporary Internet Files is Internet Explorer's cache folder. Subfolders are
not searched through the Find application and they are not visible through
My Computer. If you use Windows Explorer to browse that folder, you should
see the attachment files there. However, they get removed when Outlook is
closed (again, this is a cache). When you save your attachments, select File
| Save As and browse to a different location.
