Hi,

My Outlook2003 has two references to the same .pst File in the Folder List
view.
I've read KB article 278940 OL2000: (IMO) How to Clean Up Duplicate
References to the Same .pst File
However I'm still unable to remove the second reference from the folder.

I've followed "To Delete the Appropriate Registry Key" from the article but
the folders have no "001e6700" entry.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

TIA
Bodo

Simplest way to fix it would be to create a new profile in control panel |
mail and use that one - does that work? If so, delete the old profile.
Sounds like it's just gotten corrupted.

Hi,
yes I've tried that but with creating a new profile I have to reenter all
the emails account details and various
outlook settings are lost.

Are there any export/import options that allow me to import all the email
accounts from the profile?

TIA
Bodo

No, alas. You have to re-create them. How many e-mail accounts do you have?
TIA

Hi,
now I've managed to resolve this.

I create a new profile
From the registry I export the folder/subfolders that hold the information
of all my email-accounts
I edit the reg-file an replace the profile name with the new profile name
From the reg-file I removed the folder that Outlook has allready created in
the registry
and import the reg-file to the registry.

Now Outlook runs fine with that new profile and there is one reference to
the .PST file
I did a few modifications within Outlook to recreate the previous settings.

Thanks
Bodo

Glad it's working - pity there isn't an "export e-mail accounts" button,
though, isn't it?

Hi,
made a suggestion to microsoft using
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp site
to add such a feature.
Also I found that Outlook stores various settings like rules, categories,
email accounts in different storage places.
Like to see that all these setting are integrated in the .pst file.
In case of a reinstallation of Windows / Office one is all set with just
xcopying the .pst file

See if http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm helps...different versions
of Outlook use different settings for storage (such as rules, etc)
